Dear Member
I am pleased to give my first (and the inaugural) President’s Update, a quarterly communication aimed at keeping you informed about key actions driving progress within our branch for the benefit of our members and other stakeholders.
On 31 January, the Council and CEO convened for a Strategic Planning Day in Melbourne, which included our decision to adopt a Council Charter.
This initiative aims to provide a focus on governance practices within the Branch and revitalise structures and networks, ensuring a more robust framework for our future activities.
To that end, I am pleased to report the Ciarb network will be expanding in August to include the Northern Territory Chapter. This means Ciarb Australia will have members in each jurisdiction of Australia.
This year also holds special significance as we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of our Branch, in 1995. For new members, you can view “Swift and Diligent: A History of CIArb Australia 1995 – 2015” available here.
There are various events and initiatives in the pipeline to mark the anniversary including a Masterclass delivered by Prof Doug Jones AO and Prof Janet Walker CSM and the reboot of the Resources hub, a platform which will complement the offerings provided by HQ.
Our focus throughout 2025 will be on giving value to your membership, through training, resources, advocacy and events.
I thank you for your support; the success of our advocacy relies on the collective strength, experience and expertise of our Council, our CEO and most importantly, our membership. Please get in touch with us if there is anything you need or ideas you would like to share.
Kind regards,
Geoff Farnsworth
President
